Program Agenda and Curriculum Overview
Our comprehensive backpacking program is structured as a 3-day/2-night learning experience, designed to support learning through various methods (listening, watching, and hands-on practice). This format ensures ample opportunities for skill development and caters to both adult and children's learning preferences.
Personalized Approach
To customize the experience to your specific goals:
All participants complete our "Goals and Needs" assessment form prior to arrival. The form includes:
- Backpacking goals
- Current level of experience
- Learning interests (e.g., gear optimization, route planning, extreme weather precautions, safety equipment)
- Dietary requirements for included meals (We can accommodate many common dietary preferences)
- Transportation needs (Dulles and Reagan airport pick-up/drop-off may be available for a fee)We carefully review this information to ensure your key priorities are fully covered during the program.
If we cannot meet any of your stated requirements, we will, prior to payment:
- Promptly inform you of any limitations
- Suggest other organizations better suited to meet your specific needs
Our goal is to deliver a tailored and effective learning experience that aligns with your needs, and give you confidence in your gear and your abilities.
